Why metagenomics? (read more)
- This course will mainly focus on algorithm development and Bioinformatics analysis for microbial genomics and metagenomics.
Topics include but not limited to
comparative analysis of microbial genomes, functional annotations, biological pathway analysis, comparative metagenomics of microbial communities, species complexity analysis of metagenomics data.
- The course is about 1/3 lectures (given by the instructor), 1/3 paper presentations (given by the students) and 1/3 projects. Each student is assigned to a project related to the topics of the course at the beginning of the semester.
- Grading: attendence (10%), paper discussion & presentation (30%), project (60%)
